So I decided it would be a great chance to eat at Cheba Hut today since the students are gone, I thought it might be a little quiet. Wrong, this place is rockin along with the music.  There's been a constant line since I walked in the door, but it only took a couple of minutes before I was ordering and just a few more minutes before my salad was ready. Yes I said salad :(

This is one of those times I really wish I could eat bread.  Their freshly baked bread that they make their toasted subs on looked soooo good, but it is what it is. (If you don't know, I have Celiac Disease, so I can't eat any wheat) So I opted for the Southwest Chicken Salad. It's chicken salad on greens and vegetables.  Usually I would expect a big pile of greens and a scoop of chicken salad on top, but I would be wrong. There was a huge amount of their chicken salad on the salad, which they make with huge chunks of all white meat chicken, mayo and salsa, a nice twist and a delicious one too. It really made for a unique tasting chicken salad. Then there were the greens, not just basic lettuce, but mixed greens, and lots of chopped green peppers, onions and celery.  I love all the crunch veggies. So as much as I missed having a sub, the salad was awesome.  And the best thing, it's only $6.00.

Now what else could make this experience better? It's just something I like that you don't see most places, it's Koolaid.  That's right, they have 2 or three flavors of Koolaid in addition tot he usual sodas and ice tea. They always have my favorite, Tropical Punch plus another flavor or two.

And then there's the owner Steve. A real nice guy who looks like he used to drive the VW bus parked outside.  That's how you can find Cheba Hut, they are just West of Campbell on Sixth St. right across from the new U of A football practice fields. You can't see if from Sixth, but there is a lot of parking in the back.

Don't pass up this chance to get down to the campus area this summer and visit Cheba Hut, you'll be glad you did.
